Data Migration

If you can extract the following types of historical data out of your previous system, our Support team can usually insert it directly into your new Emergency Reporting account:

  • NFIRS Incidents
  • Personnel
  • Apparatus
  • Occupancies
  • Equipment
  • Hydrants
  • Flow test records

In most cases these types of records can be imported free of charge, and we encourage you to request this service as part of your initial account setup. Importing historical data as soon as possible can lessen the chances of creating duplicate items that need to be reconciled and archived.

Of course, we realize that some agencies will immediately need to start using the system to catch up on reports after their old system died, or to launch a program mandated by a new municipal ordinance. In such situations it may be appropriate to hold off on importing records for modules that won’t be used right away. Just keep in mind that the longer you wait, the more complex the eventual imports will become, as the imported data will need to merge with more of your new and existing records.
