Adrian Mintz (Owner of a GIS consulting company) was faced with the demand for gathering EMS data within a multi-agency district. Instead of paying exorbitant fees for services that would fall short, Adrian came up with the idea of creating a web-based solution to capture the data and provide the GIS reporting capability necessary. The idea sparked a meeting between his company and Dave Adams (Owner of a web development company) to develop a web-based system that could be used for data collection and analysis.
The idea became a successful solution and led Adams and Mintz to establish Emergency Reporting. Both were convinced an easy to use web-based records management and reporting system was a great tool for first responders to use for capturing incident data, running reports and supporting daily operations.
In late 2003, Emergency Reporting made a major advancement with the basic incident reporting system by integrating the NHTSA 2.0 NEMSIS dataset standard with the NFIRS data set. Emergency Reporting was the first in the country to offer web-based NFIRS and NEMSIS fully integrated with modules for daily operations. The fact 70% of all fire department runs are typically EMS related made this a significant system improvement.
In August 2005 Emergency Reporting, working with the CFAI (Commission Fire Accreditation International), released VISION software. VISION risk assessment and accreditation software was developed to replace Rhave software.
In April 2006, Emergency Reporting became an approved vendor on the GSA Schedule under contract number GS-35F-0345S (Reporting Systems, Inc.). The GSA Schedule allows government entities to purchase Emergency Reporting services direct with no competitive bid.
In August 2006 Emergency Reporting was awarded NEMSIS Silver (currently Gold) Certification. Our customers will receive all NEMSIS updates at no cost or effort. Contact Emergency Reporting to learn more about the NEMSIS data set standard and what it means to a department or agency collecting EMS data.
In January 2008, Emergency Reporting celebrated five years of business. What started as a good idea had grown into a reporting and records management solution for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, NASA, airports, CDC, a nuclear power facility, ambulance services, hospitals, oil refineries and other agencies with first response capabilities world-wide.
Throughout 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 the economy forced everyone, including first response agencies, to evaluate what products and services were most important and which delivered the best value for the dollar invested. Our software model proved to be of real value, especially in the areas of unlimited users per agency, training and support services, and savings from not having to maintain software and a network.
Emergency Reporting received the NEMSIS Gold Certification on July 27, 2009. The certification validated our solution as the only online system with NEMSIS Gold, NFIRS, Risk Assessment, all fully integrated (option) with 17 useful modules for daily operations.
Just two months after receiving NEMSIS Gold Certification, Emergency Reporting was awarded the contract to support United States Marines Corp bases world-wide with fire, EMS and risk assessment reporting services. For more about this award - see full story. The contract helped established Emergency Reporting as a leader for web-based reporting services.
Through 2009 and 2010 the company continued to grow significantly. The poor economy gave credence to the term: "now more than ever, web-based reporting makes sense!" Key developments this year included Emergency Reporting establishing strategic relationships with Spillman Technologies, Inc. and MED3000, Inc. The relationships provided first response customers with valuable interface tools for real-time CAD data input and EMS billing data exports.
Moving forward, in 2011 Emergency Reporting will continue to improve the way first responders can maximize our records management and supporting tools, for the good of their agency and the communities they serve.
